September 2016 Classes and Events

Summer is coming to an end… and here at The Golden Button we are getting ready for a fun Fall Schedule! Here is a list of Classes and Events for September! Call (203)910-9948 and leave a message or email us at info@goldenbuttonshop.com to save a spot in your favorite class!!! Let us know your name,  a phone number and email we can reach you at and the class you would like to join! We will contact you with a confirmation prior to class beginning.

Tuesdays:

Kids Machine Sewing (all levels)

Meets Tuesdays in September 6, 13, 20, and 27th from 3-4 PM

This class is ideal for Middle Schoolers! Get out of school and hop over to The Golden Button for some awesome sewing! (Please send your child with a drink and snack!!!!) You may leave your machine at the Studio so you do not need to worry about transporting it!) (Kids who take the bus typically arrive at about 2:30/2:40 leaving them time for snack and a little homework.) Children will create awesome projects using both hand sewing and machine Sewing! (Also great for homeschoolers!) Cost is $65 plus $20 supply fee

“My Favorite Books” Sewing Class (all levels)

Meets Tuesdays in September 6, 13, 20, and 27th 4:20-5:20 PM

Join us in September!!!! Yup thats right… Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Alice in Wonderland inspired sewing projects!! Pick your favorites!) Work on awesome projects inspired by your favorite books! Bring your machine and manual and all your little sewing treasures. All fabric will be supplied! Cost is $65 plus $20 supply fee (Discount if you sign up for both!)

Wednesdays:

Animal Painting

Meets Wednesdays in September 7, 14, 21 and 28th from 4:30-5:30 PM

Join us for this four-session class where participants will create beautiful acrylic, watercolor and mixed media paintings with local Animal Painter and Illustrator, Kate Gorham. Kate will guide you as you learn acrylic paint techniques and create wonderful paintings inspired by local animals!

Ages 7 and up please. Cost is $65 plus $20 supply fee

Adult and Kids Machine Sewing

Meets Wednesdays in September 7, 14, 21 and 28th from 6-7 PM

Parents and children can both learn how to use a sewing machine! Bring your sewing manual and we will create a fun and easy project for you to take home! (class is designed so that you can share one sewing machine and learn together) Learn how to thread your machine, work your machine and create beautiful items too! Please bring your sewing kits, thread, pins and all that good stuff if you have it. Create some Awesome Autumn inspired projects. Cost is $85 plus $35 supply fee (covers 1 adult and 1 child)

Thursdays:

Learn to Crochet

Thursday nights in September 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29th

5-6 PM

 Join us for this four-session class where participants will learn the basic crochet stitches and create several projects! Class is open to teenagers and adults. We will have supply kits for purchase or participants can bring their own yarn and crochet hooks. Make a scarf, cowl, blanket or pick from other Autumn inspired projects! Great for beginners or for a refresher class!

Cost is $90.00 (covers all 5 classes!) plus a $10 supply kit if you need it!

Stitch and B*#^%

Thursday nights in September  8, 15,  22, and 29th

6-7PM

Right after the class! Don’t need a class? That’s fine too…. Join us for a little fun! Hang out and work on your projects! You are not limited to crochet! Bring any kind of project you are working on! Bring your friends! Its more fun this way! Cost is $10 per person… includes tea and snacks! Please let us know if you are coming!

Home School: Art Exploration

Meets Fridays in September 2, 9, 16, and 23rd2:00-3:20 PM

For children who love to create art. Each week kids are encouraged to explore and create projects that you may not be comfortable creating at home! Found object art, textured paintings, paper mache, mixed medium sculpture, sew, or draw! Children come up with ideas, a plan, create, and explore with lots of supplies! Learn new tips and tricks to improve their art! (4 weeks) Cost is $85 plus $30 supply fee (discount for siblings)

Handmade Stuffed Animals!

Fridays in September 2, 9, 16, 23rd and 30th from 4:20-5:20 PM

This is an awesome class for any super creative kids! Create one of a kind fabric Art! Design, hand paint and create your very own stuffed animals! Create animals and characters of all sizes and shapes! Kids DO NOT have to sew but are more than welcome and encouraged to try! Ages 6 and up (5 weeks) Cost is $80 plus $32 supply fee

Friday Night Art: Paper, Polymer Clay and More

Fridays in September 2,9, 16, 23rd and 30th from 5:30-6:30 PM

Kids will create wild and fun sculptures using, paper, polymer clay and much more! The sky is the limit! Plan, create then decorate awesome, magical sculptures!!!! This is so much fun! Kids 4 and up are welcome. Projects are inspired by children’s favorite things!!!

(5 weeks) Cost is $80 plus $25 supply fee

Older Kid Art

Kids Autumn Paint Night

Saturday, September 24th from 5-7 PM

Come and create a beautiful Autumn inspired painting with Miss Kate. Kids ages 5 and up are welcome! Awesome Autumn snacks will be served. Cost is $25 per child

You can DROP IN today (Monday) at 12:30 for Summer Art Class if you like! 🙂 Cost is $20 per child. 12:30-1:30 PM

–Clothing Design: From 4:00- 5:00 PM This class if for designers! Create a design notebook with fabric swatches and samples. Then we will create 3-d Sculptures of your fashions! (This is not a sewing class) Cost is $65 plus $15 supply fee

–Mixed Media Art: From 5:00- 6:00 PM This mini camp is excellent for really creative kids! Kids will be working on starting ideas from drawings and taking them to 3-D form. Students will create wild and whimsical sculptures, using a variety of materials. We will be using clay, cardboard, paint, found treasures and other materials to create one of a kind artwork! Work Large or tiny! Cost is $65 plus $17 supply fee

Week Six: August 2- August 5th

– Fairy and Gnome Mini Camp: From 1:00- 2:00 PM Create tiny and amazing homes for gnomes or fairies, create a fairy or gnome sculpture, make toad stools to keep in your garden and so much more! Cost is $65 plus $17 supply fee

–Upcycle Sewers! From 5:00 – 6:00 PM This class is perfect for beginner or advanced beginner sewers! Upcycle a dress or shirt. Create a great bag for summer with awesome appliques. SO much fun and use our huge collection of vintage trims and fabrics to create some one of a kind up-cycled pieces! (Please bring a plain t-shirt that still fits –one with stains is fine. Please also bring a cotton dress or skirt to re do!) Cost is $65 plus $17 supply fee

Kids Summer Sewing and Applique Design (all levels)

Classes meet Mondays beginning August 8, 15, 22 and 29th

(4 sessions) 2:00-3:30 PM

Children (all levels are welcome from beginner to advanced beginner) will create awesome back to school inspired projects. Make a reading pillow, a super awesome pencil case and more! Children will print their fabric for their projects and use appliqué. Children will work at their own pace and develop their skills. Learn how to work your machine or continue to work on new skills! Bring your sewing machine and sewing supplies (if you have them!) (Ages 7 and up please) Cost is $95 plus $35 supply fee (1.5 hour class)

Classes meet Mondays beginning August 8, 15, 22 and 29th

Teen Sewing Machine Classes (2 sessions a week!)

Classes meet Monday, August 15th and Wednesday, August 17th

Monday, August 22nd and Wednesday, August 24th

(4 sessions) 5:20-6:20 PM

Teens (ages 12 and up) can learn how to use their sewing machines. Bring your sewing manual and we will create a fun and easy project for you to take home! Learn the basics…how to thread your machine, work your machine and create beautiful items too! Please bring your sewing kits, thread, pins and all that good stuff if you have it. Beginner projects include simple clothing projects and more!

Cost is $70 plus $25 supply fee

Crochet

Wednesdays in August 10, 17, 24 and 31st
From 6:30-7:30PM

Learn how to crochet or keep going if you need a little help or guidance!!! Learn to read patterns and apply your new stitches to make hats, scarves, or blankets or learn how to make baby gifts!!!!! Easy for beginners… Also open to advanced beginners or for crocheters who need a little refresher!!! or Continue learning!!! Work at your own pace!

Cost is $75 (If you need to buy a kit: $10 supply fee. Bring your own yarn!!)

Older Kids Painting, Drawing and Mixed Media Art (ages 9 to 13)

Sign up now for this awesome Kids Paint Night. Drop the kids off and meet your friends!

Miss Kate will guide your children through a fantastic Night time painting of beautiful fireflies! Stars, bugs and glow in the dark! Snacks will be served 🙂 Cost is $30 per child or 2 for $50! (ages 5 and up)

Kids Night Out: Summer Night

Friday, August 19th from 6-8 PM

Drop the kids off and go out for dinner or meet your friends! Kids will stay cool while creating a super Summer bug creation! Paint a giant ice cream cone in your favorite flavor and more! (ages 4 and up please) (Please sign up ahead of time 🙂 We will have snacks.

Cost is $35 per child or $60 for two

Stay till 8:30 for $10 more per child! (Make another super awesome Summer Night Project!
Kids paint Night: Ocean Animals

Tuesday, August 23rd from 6-8 PM

Sign up now for this awesome Kids Paint Night. Drop the kids off and meet your friends!

Classes meet Mondays beginning  July 18, July 25, and August 1st

(3 sessions) 12:30-1:30 PM

Beat the heat and come and create some awesome art projects! Kids all ages! Are welcome to come create some super awesome Summer inspired artwork. 3-d Watercolor Art, Giant paper pinwheels or flowers, and Wooden Fish Sculptures too! Paint, glue, create and so much more! (Sibling discounts available)

Cost is $45 plus $15 supply fee.

Week Four: July 19- July 22

–Hand Sewing and Design Camp: From 1-2:30 PM Make simple projects and learn all different techniques of hand sewing. Hand sew a watermelon or ice pop pouch, Make awesome projects with appliques, fun details and more! Fun summer inspired projects you can really use! (Ages 6 and up please) Cost is $95 plus $25 supply fee (1.5 hour class)

Week Five: July 26- July 29th
