It is never to early to start preparing for the Holiday Season, especially with so many artists and crafters around. Get ready for  the holidays at The Golden Button… Don’t forget to shop Local and Handmade! We will be open on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Christmas Eve!

We have everything you need for wonderful local and handmade gift giving! We have perfect one of a kind gifts for everyone in your life including personalized/ custom paintings!

  • Kids Holiday Gift Making (November into December)

Fridays from 5:00- 6:00 PM (ages 6 and up)

A four-session gift making class where each week children will learn how to create different gifts for everyone! Week one: we will focus on mothers, Aunts, Grandmas and teachers, Week two: we focus on Dads, Uncles, Grandpas, and other men, Week three: we will make gifts for friends, or siblings and week 4: we will make pet gifts!

November 30, December 7, 14, 21

(Cost is $ 56 plus $15 supply fee)

  • Sewing Holiday Gifts (Begins this coming Monday!)

  • Three Part Holiday Card Making

Bradleigh Huzinga of Stationarium will be having a wonderful  Holiday card and tag making workshop.

Wednesday, November 28th, December 5th and December 12th

Two classes:

children: Wednesdays from 6:00-6:45 PM (5 and up)

Adults: Wednesdays from  7:00 – 8:00 PM (adults)(you are welcome to BYOB!)

For November 28: 3 Christmas/holiday cards
For December 5:   6 gift tags
For December 12: 3 mini milk carton treat boxes
Forget buying cards for the holiday that people don’t save… Make your own beautiful paper cards, Bradleigh will walk you through the process and you will have a whole selection of holiday cards and tags just in time for the holiday season! Participants will be able to purchase supplies to make multiples of everything made during the workshops, and may also purchase the stamps used.
Cost $50 plus a $12 supply fee

 

Needle Felting:  Old World Santas (Two Dates) 

Sunday, December 9th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM

Sunday, December 16th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM

Rachel Gerowe will teach you how to sculpt beautiful Santas with wool and special needles.

Cost is $35 (save $5 if you bring your own needles and foam)

Open Ornament making

Just Like Last Year!!! Drop in During Open Ornament Making hours and get 3 ornaments for $10! All ages welcome bring your smock!  Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in December! Drop in between 12:00 to 5:00!

Private Ornament Making Parties

Plan ahead for private parties in December.

The Golden button will supply everything you will need to host your very own ornament making party! Hot cocoa, crafts supplies, paint, glue and so much more… Including a set of invitations!

Dates are limited book a Party Now!

We will be closed tomorrow and open from Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

We have our Painting Techniques class beginning this week on Thursday

Next Monday our Sewing Holiday Gifts class for Teenagers and Adults begins.

We Are One Year Old!

Its official… The Golden Button is ONE!!! We have had a wonderful, successful first year! With lots of new friends and fun classes, workshops, artists, and lots and lots of great pictures! We would like to say thank you to everyone who has visited and supported the shop for the past year! We look forward to new and wonderful things in the future! I hope to see you in the coming months during the holidays! Thank you for remembering how important it is to support local business and local artists!

Beginning in November and straight into December! We are also changing our hours! We will now be open on Sundays from 12-5 PM and we will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in November!

  • Little Kid Art (Ages 2 to 5)

  • Painting Techniques

Thursdays 5:00 to 5:45 PM.

If you are interested in learning all about paint and techniques this is a great class for you….Learn about color mixing, surfaces to paint on, design and so much more!  (age 6 and up)

  • Printmaking, Transfers, Ink and Paint

Friday 5:00-6:00PM

 Explore different printmaking and transfer techniques while using different inks and paints. Try some new techniques and make some beautiful artwork to take home! Class is open to children 8 and up.

We will focus on creating printed patterns, transferring photos and learning new art processes. (Ages 6 and up)

Today is Haunted House Making at The Golden Button

Getting ready to make Haunted Houses! Today at The Golden Button $20 per person. Make an awesome Haunted hour stop in between 1 and 5 PM (You have till 6 PM to work but you have to be here by 5 PM!) — at The Golden Button.

Today is the first day of our 5 day Anniversary Celebration at The Golden Button! Stop by this week for lots of fun, giveaways, treats, and sales!   • Hardcover Book Making class with Kleiner Eisbar 
On Thursday, October 11th and 18th from 5:00 to 6:30, join Dennis and Krissy Maksymiw from Kleiner Eisbär for a two-part class in making a hardcover hand-bound Coptic book at The Golden Button in Southbury, CT. Coptic bindings are among the oldest bindings, serving as both structural and decorative facets of a book. (Coptic bound books open and lie completely flat.)

For Teenagers and Adults. This is a two-part class

Cost is $42 plus $5 supply fee

  • Adult’s night out this Thursday!

  • Friday we have….

October 12th: Making Stuffed Animals ($25 per stuffed creation)

Turn your drawings into pillows and stuffed animals.

Design a drawing, color it in, and then have it transformed into a stuffed animal or pillow for you!!! Children who are 8 or older or have an adults help may hand sew their creations! (No sewing for small children. You can leave them at the shop and they can be assembled for you) (please allow a week for finished product)

Drop in between 1:00 and 5:00 PM, Meet with your friends. All ages welcome!!! A different Project each Friday!!!!

 

 

  • Learn How to Knit Fingerless Gloves!!!

Saturday, October 13th  at 3:00 PM- about 5:00 PM

Advanced beginners class: This is a great one session class for beginners or people who know how to knit and purl, and increase or for people who need a refresher course in knitting! Learn how to make perfect knit fingerless Gloves!!! These are wonderful fast gifts perfect for many people. Start your Holiday gift making now!!!

Taught by Patti Clark of Maple View Farm in Orange.

Cost is $35 for the class.

  • Fiber Arts Workshops

  • Machine Sewing For Beginners (ages 10 and up) 

On Mondays at 5:30 to 6:30 PM

October 8, 15, 22, and 29th

Bring your own machine and manual to The Golden Button on Monday evenings in October and learn basic sewing machine techniques. This is a four-session class. You will learn all sort of things from how to work your machine, cutting a pattern, straight stitch and finishing edges all leading to a pillow as your finished product.  (adults are welcome to come too)

Taught by Maura Bergman

Cost is $75 for a 4-class session plus $16 supply fee.
