Beginning next Saturday…. in August we are having some of our favorite artists in the shop doing demonstrations for you….

On Saturday, August 4th

1:00 PM Eileen Gorham and Kate Gorham will be demonstrating crocheting.

Eileen Warner and Ann Deduck of Alpaca Hill Farms in Seymour will show off their knitting skills.  Sale on Local yarn and Alpaca prints by local photographer Pauly Occhialini. (Stop by to say hello and meet the artists)

Saturday, August 11th:

At 1:00 PM Kate Gorham will be demonstrating how to create felt food! Come and learn how to make felt food and get a kit for $12. (children 8 and up) Hand Sewing with needles… (Please call ahead to sign up for this event)

At 3:00 PM Kate Gorham Owner of The Golden Button will be demonstrating painting then for $10 you may create a masterpiece of your own to take home! All Ages welcome

Making Some Books!!!

Today we were so lucky to have Dennis and Krissy of Kleiner Eisbar come to the shop and do some Book Making! My husband and I were very lucky to get to participate in the workshop!!!

We are offering another Book Making Workshop on August 25th At 3:00 PM Dennis and Krissy of Kleiner Eisbar will have a book binding class: Learn to make a Stab Binding (teenagers and  adults please)(cost is $30 plus $5 supply fee!) (Please call ahead to sign up for this event)

New Locally Made Items At The Golden Button

As always we have a lot going on at The Golden Button…. Tomorrow we have a Sketch Book Making class at 1:00 PM. It is also our final Christmas in July Sale.

We now carry beautiful photographs by local photographer… Pauly Occhialini….

We are also have these awesome Aluminum Can Airplanes by Chuck Argo ……

  • Next Week is Week 4 of our Mini Summer Camp… Most camps are totally full but there are a few spots left in I Love Jewelry and there is one space left in Art Show Camp.

  • Open Painting Hours next Wednesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 3:30 PM!!!!
  • August 5th is our Needle Felting : Dogs Workshop.

Learn how to sculpt a dog out of wool using special barbed needles. (cost is $35 save $5 if you bring your own needles and foam)

  • August is our Artist Demo Month. Each Saturday We will be having great artist Demonstrations as well as some classes and Workshops…

The Golden Button specializes in local handmade gift items, arts and crafts. On Saturdays, in the month of August, local artists and craftsmen, who sell their items at The Golden Button, will be putting on demonstrations and workshops to showcase their talents. Everyone is invited to stop by, watch, learn and try something different! Meet some very talented people and learn something new! There may even be treats and a giveaway!!!

Saturday, August 25th–

12:00 PM- Jessica  of the Small Things Soap will be teaching children how to hand paint soaps. The cost is $10 per child.

At 1:00 PM  Bradleigh Huzinga will do a card making Demonstration

Good Morning on this rainy day! Today and tomorrow (Friday) we are offering Open Painting Hours since its raining. Any time between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM today and tomorrow you may stop by to create a painting.

Alpaca Hill Farm

My husband and I were very very lucky to be invited to Alpaca Hill Farm in Seymour, CT to visit Tom and Eileen and their animals. Including their special surprise…. A beautiful newborn alpaca named Angel!!!!

Thats correct… a surprise!

Eileen and her sister, Ann, will be doing a Knitting Demonstration at The shop on August 4th to kick off Artists Month at The Golden Button. On Saturdays in August we will have many of our local artists demonstrating and teaching their art!

We also have three new born baby kittens next to the store!!!! Ava (you may have seen her visit) who lives next door with the twins (you may have seen them visit) had three babies last night!!!! They will be looking for homes in a month or two!!!!

*Many of the Mini Summer Camps are FULL!!! There are only a few spaces left in weeks 5-7!!!

There is a lot going on at The Golden Button this summer. Here are a pictures from this weeks Mini Summer Camps. We like to take pictures!!!

The Sewing camp is working on “House and Flower” pieces in embroidery hoops… and Felt Food Doughnuts! We are having a great time!!!

Summer Night Camp made “Bug Terrariums”, drawings, and awesome Night Time Pillowcases!

The huge flowers were a custom order made for a wedding shower this weekend!!! I had to share the pictures of the little girls next to the huge flowers!!!

Come visit this Saturday for the Christmas in July sale and ornament making!!!! Check Facebook for more info! 11-6 pm Saturday all ornament making for all ages! lots of options cost is $7- $12 depending on which ornaments you want to make!!!

This Wednesdays and Friday we are having Open Painting Hours. Drop by anytime between 2:00 and 5:00 PM to make a painting. We supply everything for $10! Wear a smock.

 Stop by at 5:00 PM on Wednesday for some punch and to see all the finished artwork from our Portrait Art Class!!!

Week Two- Sewing Camp

July 17-20 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Ages 8 and up)
Introduction to kids sewing. Each child will receive a small sewing kit to learn basic sewing. We will discuss sewing safety and learn how to create simple patterns. Your child will make food and other creations out of felt. Simple basic hand sewing for kids!

Week Three- Art Camp

July 24th-27th from 5:00-6:00 PM (All Ages)

Explore several mediums this week. Get comfortable with pastels, watercolor and create a large 3-D painting. You are going to want to wear a smock! Your child will work at his or her own level. All ages are welcome.

Cost is $50 plus $10 for supplies.
 We will be closing on Friday at 6:00 PM for vacation!!!! The Golden Button will open again on July 10th at 11:00 AM.
We will begin our Mini Summer Camp and we will have Needle Felting Bears from 6:30- 8:30 PM that evening!!!!
