The leaves are starting to fall at The Golden Button. 

 

This Sunday from 2-4 PM is Needle Felting BATS!!!! Getting ready for Fall. 

There are still spaces available. Come learn how to sculpt a Bat out of wool! 

Cost is $35 (save $5 if you bring your own foam and needles)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here are some pictures from our Kid’s Art Adventure Class… It was Crystal day! We made Alum Crystals and drew some Amethysts and Geodes. 

Then we finished up our Fossils from last week with some metallic and glitter paint.

This is a very exciting weekend. When I close the store tonight I have to run over to Bethlehem Fairgrounds to drop off my Needle Felting submission….

Wish me luck.

Then tomorrow… It is the final day for Diorama drop offs!!!

Diorama Contest/ Fundraiser for The Kitty Connection

On Saturday at 1:00 come have a treat and see some beautiful Dioramas that have been created for our Diorama Contest!!!!  Hand Made ribbons will be awarded! You still have till Friday at 6:00 to drop off Dioramas!!!! All ages are welcome to join!!!

Ribbons will be awarded in six categories….

Including:

Most Creative

Most Realistic

Best Use of Materials

Here is one submission. We are hoping to raise some money for The Kitty Connection!!!

Art Show Camp

Here at The Golden Button we are celebrating the last week of Mini Summer Camps with an Art Show!!!!

The children planned and designed their own invitations and created some beautiful watercolor mixed medium pieces.

We have soooooo much going on in the next few months… So keep stopping by to see our new handmade items, keep your eye out for workshops and classes for you and your children and keep checking in for new and exciting events!!!

August 24th at 6:00 PM is our Art Show

September 1st at 1:00 PM is our Diorama Contest Award Party

September 15th is a big Festival in South Britain… The Apple Festival!!! We will be having a tent sale outside!!!

September 22nd the store will be open but we will also have a booth at the 8th Annual Fall Fine Arts Festival on the Green in Southbury.

New Needle Felting Workshops have been announced!!!!

Fiber Arts Workshops

 

Needle Felting with Rachel Gerowe of Red Barn Originals. Learn how to create beautiful  sculptures out of wool. Cost is $35. Save $5 if you bring your own needles and foam!!! (ages teen to adult)

Rose Garbien of Bittersweet Ridge is going to be doing a Yarn Spinning demonstration at 1:00!!! Come visit learn and ask questions!!!

 

 

Rachel Gerowe is going to teach Needle Felting for a suggested donation of $5!!! Donations will go to the Southbury Food Bank! (3:00- 5:00 just drop in!!!) Teenagers and up!!!

  • I hope everyone is working on their Dioramas for our contest! you have till August 31st!!!!!

Diorama Contest

  • Artist Demos: This Saturday stop by at 1:00 to see a Yarn Spinning Demonstration with Rose Garbien!!! (It’s free- come watch and learn how Rose spins the fiber from her sheep into yarn!!!) Then at 3:00 visit Rachel Gerowe to try out Needle Felting!!! (for teenagers and up! Please) ($5 suggested donation fee to go to the Southbury Food Bank!)
  • You may also hold spaces for Artist Demos on Saturday, August 25th
  • 12:00 PM- Jessica  of the Small Things in Life Soap will be teaching children how to hand paint soaps. The cost is $10 per child. (This is very exciting for children to do. The decorative soap paint comes off the soap in the shower but it is still very fun to learn.) Please sign up ahead of time!!

     At 1:00 PM  Bradleigh Huzinga will do a card making Demonstration

     At 3:00 PM Dennis and Krissy of Kleiner Eisbar will have a book binding class: Learn to make a Slab Binding  (Teenage to adults)(cost is $30 plus $5 supply fee!) (Please call ahead to sign up for this event. Space is limited and it is very fun!!! these make wonderful gifts!!! Never buy a sketchbook again!)

Lets create some ART…. Collages, color block painting, permanent marker drawing and much more. Create lots of art then at the end of the last class we will have a Summer Art Show!

At 1:00 PM Rose Garbein will demonstrate spinning techniques (Come meet Rose and see how to make your own yarn!!! It is fun and very interesting to watch. Ask questions and learn something fun!!) Rose of Bittersweet Ridge owns a bunch of wonderful Shetland Sheep. Rose teaches Spinning, Knitting, and Needle Felting. She also sells her soaps and her wonderful wool at The Golden Button!!!

3:00 PM Rachel Gerowe will teach you how to needle felt. (Adults and Teenagers please) There is a suggested donation of $5 that will be donated to the Southbury Food Bank. (Rachel will teach you how to make a small insect) You can come even if you have done this before. It is for a great cause!!!

We will be announcing a whole bunch of new classes soon!

Including… Adult Painting Classes, Needle Felting, Knitting and crocheting, beginner sewing for girls and boys  7 or 8 and up!  and little kids classes.

Artist Demonstrations to sign up for…..

August 11th at 1:00 come visit Kate Gorham, of The Golden Button. Children (or anyone who want to make a felt creation) Sign up to make a mug of Milk and Cookies, Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows or Donuts!!! This is going to be fun!!!

Each kit costs $12!!!


Then at 3:00 PM there will be a painting demonstration by Kate Gorham and you may stop over to create a master piece! All ages welcome!!! $10 per canvas.

Hey, don’t forget to start making your dioramas for the Diorama Contest at the Golden Button at the end of this month. There is a suggested donation of $5 that will go to The Kitty Connection! They are a wonderful organization that saves baby kitties!!! You can donate without making a diorama, but dioramas are so much fun!!!

You may also sign up for next weekends felt food making class ($12) on Saturday at 1:00 and you can stop by at 3:00 to see a painting demonstration and to make a painting of your own! ($10)
