-Parent/ Child Paint Night at Bent of the River! Friday, August 21st from 6-8 PM (This EVENT is at BENT OF THE RIVER in Southbury)

Join us at the Bent Barn to create a very cool painting of your favorite local animals or birds! We will use Acrylic paint so wear your old clothes and remind your favorite little person to do the same!!!! Cost is $60 a pair (one adult and one child!) $75 for a pair and an extra child! Cost includes supplies and snacks! (Everyone gets their own canvas!) Please meet in the Bent Barn. (Please contact The Golden Button to register)

-Kids Landscape Painting Day! (Ages 7 & up) Saturday, August 22nd from 2-4PM (This EVENT is at BENT OF THE RIVER in Southbury)

Meet us at the Bent Barn. We will be going on a little adventure to create a beautiful landscape painting or two. Children will be using acrylic paint and may be sitting on the ground so wear your old clothes and bring a mat or a blanket to sit on if the ground is wet! Cost is $25 plus a $12 supply fee. (Bring a friend and you both save $5!!!!)

–Needle Felting Hedgehogs or Otters: Wednesday, August 26th: 7:00 PM to 9:30PM (At The Golden Button in Woodbury)

Join us at the Golden Button on Wednesday, August 26th at 7 PM to create 3-D Hedgehog sculptures. Needle felting is an easy-to-learn craft in which a barbed needle is used to sculpt wool into anything imaginable. In this class students will create a 3 dimensional felted hedgehogs! You will have enough materials to make another one!!!
Cost: $40 (Save $5 by bringing your own needles and foam)

-Embroidery Basics for Pre-Teens to Adults

Learn to create pictures and designs while hand sewing. Add embellishments to pillows, clothes, bags and blankets! This class is excellent for adding an artistic touch to already made items! These basic techniques can be used to make a sampler or a finished piece for clothing! So much fun! You can create anything!

Class is great for pre- teens to adults! We will learn our stitches then learn how to apply them!

Cost is $70 plus $15 supply fee.

Sewing class for beginners and slightly advanced beginners…

Kate Gorham teaches you how to use your Sewing Machine! Learn basic functions, how to find your way around your Sewing Machine and how to make a basic pattern. This class is excellent for all of you with new machines! We are fun summer projects

Cost is $70 plus $5 supply fee (We will supply thread and practice material. You will receive information about what to bring with you, so you can pick the fabric you love!)

–Adult Painting Class!

Friday July 18^th from 7-9 PM

Have a great night out with your friends. Painter and teaching artist, Kate Gorham, of The Golden Button, will guide you through a painting. We will work step by step to create a sky painting with hot air balloons!

Crafternoon and Fall Classes!!!

Lots and lots of planning going on here today!!!!! We would like to announce the very first Golden Button Crafternoon happening in September!!!!

The Golden Button Crafternoon!

Join us on Saturday, September 28th

Ages 5 and up from 12:00 to 2:00 PM

Teens and Adults from 2:30 to 4:30 PM

Meet some of our local artists and learn how to craft some really special things!

Cost is $40 per person (covers all supplies and a snack!!!)

Four different crafts to create!!!! (More info to follow!!!)

Beginners Machine Sewing!!!

We just added this class to our October Schedule!

Beginner Sewing on your machine… Ages 10 and up

Monday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30

October 8, 15, 22, and 29th

Bring your own machine and manual to The Golden Button on Monday evenings in October and learn basic sewing machine techniques. This is a four-session class. You will learn all sort of things from how to work your machine, cutting a pattern, straight stitch and finishing edges all leading to a pillow as your finished product. (adults are welcome to come too)

Taught by Maura Bergman

Cost is $75 for a 4-class session plus $16 supply fee.

Diorama Contest!

Important news… The Golden Button will be accepting Dioramas till next Friday (September 7th) at 6PM. We have decided to postpone our fundraiser till next weekend on Saturday, September 8th at 1:00 PM so that more people can participate. I hope that this doesn’t cause too much conflict. Please consider joining us to help raise money for The Kitty Connection!!!

Next Saturday….Treats, punch and awards will be given!!!

On Fridays:

Image Transferring (kids ages 6 to 12)

4:30 to 5:15 PM. Learn fun ways to transfer printed image! During this three-session class we will learn some fun transfer techniques. First we will create a gel medium transfer and next we will transfer old animal drawings using wintergreen oil, then finally we will create a beautiful piece of artwork by transferring a drawing we make ourselves. (Gel medium, wintergreen oil, and acrylic paint will be used. Please wear old clothes or a smock)
