We Are One Year Old!

Its official… The Golden Button is ONE!!! We have had a wonderful, successful first year! With lots of new friends and fun classes, workshops, artists, and lots and lots of great pictures! We would like to say thank you to everyone who has visited and supported the shop for the past year! We look forward to new and wonderful things in the future! I hope to see you in the coming months during the holidays! Thank you for remembering how important it is to support local business and local artists!

This year get started early and make some beautiful gifts for your family and friends. The Golden Button is offering great class, sessions, and workshops for all ages. Beginning in November and straight into December! We are also changing our hours! We will now be open on Sundays from 12-5 PM and we will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in November!

  • Little Kid Art (Ages 2 to 5)

Thursdays 2:00 to 2:45 PM.

Children: ages 2- 5 will have fun with painting, building, creating and so much more. Young children get hands on. With lots of fun mediums and new things to try!

November 1, 8, 15, 29 (No Class on the 22nd for Thanksgiving)

Taught by Kate Gorham

(Cost is $ 50 plus a $10 Supply fee)

  • Painting Techniques

Thursdays 5:00 to 5:45 PM.

If you are interested in learning all about paint and techniques this is a great class for you….Learn about color mixing, surfaces to paint on, design and so much more!  (age 6 and up)

4 sessions class

 November 1, 8, 15, 29 (No Class on the 22nd for Thanksgiving)

(Cost is $ 58 plus a $15 Supply fee)

 

 

  • Printmaking, Transfers, Ink and Paint

Friday 5:00-6:00PM

 Explore different printmaking and transfer techniques while using different inks and paints. Try some new techniques and make some beautiful artwork to take home! Class is open to children 8 and up.

We will focus on creating printed patterns, transferring photos and learning new art processes. (Ages 6 and up)

Commissions for The Holidays

With the holidays right around the corner we are beginning to think about the perfect, handmade, one- of -a-kind gifts for the people in our lives…

Kate Gorham, a local, award winning painter and illustrator, will be offering custom paintings.

Have a custom piece of artwork created for you based on a photo of your choice. Kate will paint anything you like….Portraits, Pets, Cars, animals, birds, you name it! We are offering a limited number of commissions before the holidays! Please give us 2 weeks to complete your custom painting.

Your painting will be made with high quality Acrylic Paints on canvas available in several sizes. Your painting will be varnished when dry. Please select your size at time of order.

Small Paintings (4×4, 6×6, and other similarly sized canvases will be created or $65.00)

Medium Paintings (10x 10 -12×12 to 11x 14 will run $120)

Larger Paintings (18×18, 20x 20 and similar sizes will cost $175)

Extra large paintings and odd shaped canvases can also be created. Please contact us for additional pricing.

50% deposit is needed at time of order. You may pay the remainder of the balance when your painting is picked up.

Haunted House Making Today

Today is Haunted House Making at The Golden Button

Getting ready to make Haunted Houses! Today at The Golden Button $20 per person. Make an awesome Haunted hour stop in between 1 and 5 PM (You have till 6 PM to work but you have to be here by 5 PM!) — at The Golden Button.

  

We have some treats….Gluten Free/ Dairy Free Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies and

Cake Balls.

Holiday Gift Making Series

  • Kids Holiday Gift Making (November into December)

Fridays from 5:00- 6:00 PM (ages 6 and up)

A four-session gift making class where each week children will learn how to create different gifts for everyone! Week one: we will focus on mothers, Aunts, Grandmas and teachers, Week two: we focus on Dads, Uncles, Grandpas, and other men, Week three: we will make gifts for friends, or siblings and week 4: we will make pet gifts!

November 30, December 7, 14, 21

(Cost is $ 56 plus $15 supply fee)

  • Sewing Holiday Gifts

Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 PM (Teenagers and Adults)

A four-week Sewing class for beginners and advanced beginners learn how to make different gifts for everyone in your life! Bring your own sewing machine to work on. Each week we will create a new gift for the holidays!

Cost is $75 plus $20 supply fee

 

  • Learn How to Knit Fingerless Gloves, a Hat or a Scarf!!!

Advanced beginners class: This is a great one session class for beginners or people who know how to knit and purl, and increase or for people who need a refresher course in knitting! Learn how to make perfect knit fingerless Gloves, a Hat or a Scarf!!!! These are wonderful fast gifts perfect for many people in your life. Start your Holiday gift making now!!!

Taught by Patti Clark of Maple View Farm in Orange.

Cost is $35 for the class.

  • Three Part Holiday Card Making

Bradleigh Huzinga of Stationarium will be having a wonderful  Holiday card and tag making workshop.

Wednesday, November 28th, December 5th and December 12th

Two classes:

children: Wednesdays from 6:00-6:45 PM (5 and up)

Adults: Wednesdays from  7:00 – 8:00 PM (adults)(you are welcome to BYOB!)

For November 28: 3 Christmas/holiday cards
For December 5:   6 gift tags
For December 12: 3 mini milk carton treat boxes
Forget buying cards for the holiday that people don’t save… Make your own beautiful paper cards, Bradleigh will walk you through the process and you will have a whole selection of holiday cards and tags just in time for the holiday season! Participants will be able to purchase supplies to make multiples of everything made during the workshops, and may also purchase the stamps used.

Anniversary Celebration!

Today is the first day of our 5 day Anniversary Celebration at The Golden Button! Stop by this week for lots of fun, giveaways, treats, and sales! The class learned basic Machine Sewing techniques, how to feel comfortable with their machines, and they created these beautiful pillows. Now they are onto tote bags!

  • What animal are you afraid of that you have no idea why you are afraid of it?

  • When you are out in nature, do you often seem to run into the same animal?
  • What animal have you bumped into over and over throughout your life?
  • What animal have you watched for hours?
  • Does art work or jewelry with a certain animal always attract you?

Which ever animals show up the most are your totems.

Today was a little insane. This here website… disappeared. I was told it was gone forever but my hero, Carter, found it again and helped save it from ruin. Thanks Carter!!!!!

Here are some events you might be interested in…

  • Tomorrow (Friday afternoon) stop in anytime between 1 and 5 PM to make an Animal Totem Charm. Figure out your animal totem with our little quiz then make a beautiful little clay sculpture to keep forever. ($10 per person all ages welcome)

 

  • This Saturday stop in between 1 and 5 PM to paint a wooden Pumpkin!!! All ages welcome. Wear a smock!!! Cost is $5 while supplies last!

 

 

On Tuesday we will be celebrating out One Year Anniversary!

 

 

  • Tuesday from 3-5 come make a Woodland Creature Mask! ($12 per kit) ages 8 and up can sew their mask.  The younger kids can use special glue to create their mask!

 

 

On Wednesday evening teens and adults are invited to create a Needle Felted Owl with Rachel Gerowe. Please sign up ahead of time. class begins at 6:30 PM! Cost is $35 (save $5 if you bring your own needles and foam.)

 

 

  • On Thursday we will offer Open Painting from 3-6 PM. Open to all ages (including adults)  ($10 per canvas) Just drop in! Wear an old t-shirt to smock!
  • Next Friday we will have everything you need to make a spooky Haunted House sculpture ($20 per person) (discount for siblings) Show up anytime from 1-5 PM (you can work till 6 PM)
  • Next Saturday come by for treats and a Fiber Bee. (Stop by after the South Britain Historical walk and enjoy Hot Cocoa and a snack!) See demonstrations on how people still create art by knitting, crocheting, needle felting and weaving. Everyone is welcome to join us. Bring whatever project you are working on! 1-5 Pm
