We are officially on Vacation till May 8th!!!! The shop is closed for this week. Felt and Fabric Flower Pin Making (Adult and teen)

Thursday, May 30th at 7:00 PM

Create felt and fabric flower pins with Rebecca Taylor. (You do need to use a hot glue gun.. You may bring your own or we have some!) They are soooo cute! Rebecca makes those beautiful Felt flower pins that we sell at The Golden Button!

Cost is $25 plus $5 supply fee.

Knitting Class

Patti Clark of Maple View Farm teaches beginner and advanced beginner Knitting… Tuesday evenings in May from 6:30- 8:00 PM!!! Cost is $75 for 3 weeks! May 7th, 14th and 21st! Email goldenbuttonshop@yahoo.com or message us on Facebook to hold a space!!!

Art Enrichment

I am currently teaching art enrichment at a local school! Here are some photos of the artwork the children are creating! The trees and branches were drawn with sticks and paint!

Girl Scouts: One Point Perspective

Girl scouts had a special drawing class this week at The Golden Button. The focus was on perspective and shading. These drawings were created using a vanishing point on the horizon line. The girls used pencils, charcoal, pastels, colored pencils, watercolors and focused on shadows and blending.

Cost is $30 (which includes all supplies) We know its a little late for Easter but Pysanky is so much fun and once you learn it you can create beautiful eggs for ever!!! This class is for Teens and Adults. Please email, message or call to save a space!!!

The Golden Button offers Adult Painting Classes and Needle Felting.

Stop by The Golden Button on Friday nights for some Adult Painting Classes with Miss Kate. You do not need to know how to paint. Come, relax and have fun and Kate Gorham, owner of The Golden Button, will guide you though your painting. Bring a friend and have a nice adult night out! Classes cost $25 per night and run from 7-9 PM (Sign up for one or sign up for all 4 for $75!!!!)

On Friday, May 10th: Learn how to paint a beautiful landscape, Friday May 17th: Learn how to paint a bird or owl, Friday, May 24th: Learn how to paint your favorite flower and Friday May 31st: Learn how to paint an animal.

Space is limited! Cost covers all supplies! You will bring home a finished piece and have a lot of fun!

The Golden Button also offers Needle Felting Classes with Rachel Gerowe, of Red Barn Originals. Learn how to create a beautiful sculpture out of wool! Thursday, May 16^th from 6:30- 9:00 PM, Rachel will teach you how to create a Frog with special barbed needles. And Sunday May, 19^th , from 2-4 PM Learn how to make a Flower Fairy. Cost for either class is $35. (Save $5 if you bring your own barbed needles and foam.)

Today and tomorrow and Sunday we have drop in art! You can come over anytime between noon and 5 PM to create a beautiful masterpiece. 3 Projects to pick from!!! Cost is $12 per project. All ages are welcome. Wear old clothes!

I am thinking of the terrible events that happened today……My thoughts are with everyone in Boston. I am sending lots of love to Massachusetts. Stay safe everyone.

Yesterday we had Needle Felting Gnomes with Rachel Gerowe of Red Barn Originals. I made some granola bars to share with the girls and I promised to share our Needle Felting Snack with everyone…

Here is it.. Gluten Free Dairy Free Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola Bars ❤

adapted from a recipe for energy bars from Group Recipe.

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups gluten free rolled oats
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup Gluten free Bobs Red Mills all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup mini chocolate morsels I used dairy free chocolate chips.
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup vegetable oil (I used olive oil)
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup cherries

How to make it

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line cookie sheet or large pyrex dish with parchment paper.
In a large bowl mix together dry ingredients: oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, baking soda, chocolate morsels and salt. Add honey, oil and vanilla extract, plus dried cherries. Mix well and spoon into baking pan. Using the bottom of a measuring cup, press mixture firmly into the pan until evenly distributed and smooth on top.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes, until bars are slightly darker at the edges than the center. Cool on a wire rack 15 minutes. Cut with a serrated knife into 3-by-1-inch bars.
Wrap individually in sandwich bags, saran wrap, or store in an airtight container.

You can add nuts, different fruits, different chocolate, you could make these with gluten or with milk chocolate. There are a million different ways to do it! Sometimes I add coconut.

Mother’s Day Gift Making (DROP IN)

Bring your children to create beautiful one of a kind gifts for Mother’s Day! Cost is $12 per gift. Stop in between 12 and 5 PM on the following days to create garden stones, tea cups or mugs for your aunts, mothers, grandmas, nanas and other loves ones.

Fridays are Mommy and Mini class 11:30 to12:15 Everyone is welcome… All Activities are appropriate for baby, todders, and little ones. (All materials are non toxic and safe for love bugs) You are welcome to bring a booster seat or just sit with your little one. We will explore lots of colors and textures with fun and safe materials! A little messy but a lot of fun!

Cost is $50 for 4 weeks
